FAIRFIELD, IA – August 30, 2024 – Cambridge’s 13th graduating The Next Step® internship class is its largest ever, with 42 interns from around the country joining Cambridge for a summer of personal and professional growth. The Next Step internship strives to provide students from a variety of disciplines the chance to gain first-hand experience in the financial services industry, while participating in various professional development and volunteer opportunities.
The 2024 graduating class assisted 20 different teams at Cambridge’s Fairfield, Iowa; West Des Moines, Iowa; and Phoenix, Arizona locations. Program members worked alongside full-time Cambridge associates to gain experience in their chosen field, and participated in special professional development and educational trainings, social outings, and volunteer opportunities throughout the summer. At the conclusion of the program, participants presented their final projects to their colleagues across the firm.
The Next Step internship aims to develop the financial service industry’s next generation of talent. The program receives hundreds of applications each year from talented students seeking one of the full-time, paid internship positions. In previous years, several interns have returned for multiple summers, while others have gone on to work in various financial services positions across the country. Many students who participate in the program return to Cambridge as full-time associates. The Next Step internship program was named a finalist for the 2024 WealthManagement.com Industry Awards (“Wealthies”) in the Corporate Social Responsibility category1.
