About Dale Brown – President & CEO

Dale Brown is the founding president and CEO of the Financial Services Institute (FSI), the leading advocacy organization for independent financial services firms and advisors. Since launching FSI in 2004, he has led efforts to promote a healthier regulatory environment through advocacy, education, and public awareness. Today, FSI represents over 100 member firms and 160,000+ affiliated financial advisors.

With more than 30 years of association management experience, Dale is a recognized leader in government relations and advocacy. Before FSI, he directed key programs at the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP), where he played a pivotal role in defeating IRS efforts to reclassify independent advisors as employees.

He earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1995 and has received multiple honors, including GSAE’s Clifford M. Clarke Award and recognition as one of ThinkAdvisor’s 25 Most Influential for nine consecutive years.

Dale holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Georgia State University. He serves as an elder at Redeemer Church in Arlington, VA, and sits on the board of Orphan Prevent Community, a nonprofit supporting at-risk families in Guatemala.
