FAIRFIELD, IA – June 17, 2026 — Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. (“Cambridge”), a leading independent financial solutions firm serving 4,100 advisors nationwide, today announced the appointment of Erik Smyer as Vice President, Infrastructure and Operations. In this role, Smyer will oversee the cybersecurity, infrastructure, and hardware management teams within the firm’s technology organization, while furthering cloud adoption, strengthening enterprise security, and delivering resilient, scalable infrastructure capabilities that support the firm’s continued growth and innovation.
Smyer joins Cambridge after more than a decade at onsemi, where he served as IT Chief of Staff and Director of Global Infrastructure Design. In that role, he led enterprise technology strategy and operations supporting more than 30,000 users worldwide, driving large-scale infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, and M&A integration initiatives. Prior to onsemi, Smyer served as Director of Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering at Apollo Education Group, where he led global cloud and infrastructure initiatives that improved scalability across the organization. A 22-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Smyer earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in computer information systems, as well as an MBA, from the University of Phoenix.
