“We focus a lot on internal culture with my actual team, so we have a very collaborative internal team environment, which is pretty cool. It's changed how I work but because of this, we're able to help map out our professional partners and their levels.” – Jason Baker
Don’t miss this episode of Cambridge Stronger as Jason Baker, co-founder and president of Baker Wealth Management, shares his inspiring journey into financial advising. Sparked by his mother’s early influence and a deep desire to help others, Jason has dedicated his career to helping people achieve financial security through personalized planning and collaboration.
In Episode 228: From Toys 'R' Us Stock to Financial Security, Jason discusses:
Listen now to hear Jason’s insights on adapting financial strategies to meet evolving life circumstances.
At the age of 10, Jason Baker’s mother purchased a share of Toys R Us stock for him, sparking a lifelong passion for finance. Over the years, he observed the stock’s price fluctuations in the newspaper and received dividends, deepening his interest in the financial world. The original stock certificate remains displayed in his office as a reminder of where his journey began.
His fascination with markets and the economy grew further while studying at Clemson University. In 1994, he graduated with a degree in Economics, and by 1995, he had become a registered financial professional. Currently, Baker holds multiple credentials, including Series 4 (Registered Options Principal), Series 7 (General Securities), Series 24 (Registered Principal), Series 63 (Blue Sky Laws), Series 65 (Investment Advisory Representative), as well as a Life & Health Insurance license. Additionally, he is a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA).
When working with clients, Baker focuses on their stories and values, which shape their financial goals. These goals then drive the planning process. Whether advising a small business owner or working with multiple generations within a family, the approach remains holistic, emphasizing balance and long-term success. Clients always remain at the center of the process. By prioritizing their needs, the portfolio serves them—not the other way around. Since financial circumstances are constantly evolving, maintaining an open and transparent relationship is essential for long-term success.
Outside of work, Baker is always immersed in projects. His garage, once used for cars, is now a dedicated woodworking space. He also enjoys spending time outdoors, whether kayaking on Lake Wylie or shark fishing with his daughter. Traveling to unfamiliar places is a favorite pastime, along with discovering new and exciting restaurants. Weekends often include practicing Tai Chi in the backyard. Creating new memories and seeking out one-of-a-kind experiences with family, including his wife, daughter, and two Pomchi pups—remains a top priority.
