This summer, Cambridge welcomed a record-breaking 42 student interns to the firm’s offices in Fairfield and West Des Moines, Iowa, and Phoenix, Arizona for a summer of learning, mentorship, and fun. Alan, an intern with Cambridge’s Legal Team and current Cleveland State University College of Law student, shares how he discovered the internship opportunity and what about Cambridge piqued his interest. Meanwhile, Tatum, a Marketing and Communications intern and current Arizona State University student studying Business Marketing, shares how she came to Cambridge looking to expand her marketing knowledge within the world of finance.

Tatum Baxter is a Senior at Arizona State University, majoring in Business Marketing and minoring in Public Relations. She is currently a Digital Marketing Intern at Cambridge Investment Research, where she collaborates with a dynamic team to enhance brand visibility and engagement through strategic use of social media and content strategy.
Tatum is an awarded musician who has performed and written music across the United States, achieving the impressive feat of reaching #31 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart. She has toured extensively throughout the country, using this platform to make connections within the music industry. With a passion for music and strong social media skills, she has grown attracted to marketing and connecting with others. This has led her to further her education.
Tatum has demonstrated exceptional leadership by founding the 501c3 nonprofit organization, Music is Therapy, which provides music therapy and instruments to underprivileged schools, hospitals, and other nonprofits. As the founder, she has overseen the growth and development of the organization while managing the various groups they fund.
Alan Schiess (“Shiss”) at a young age talked to his parents about investing money and confirmed his interest in investing and the markets at the age of 14 when he read the book, The Total Money Makeover, by Dave Ramsey. Since, he enrolled in financial classes as electives while in his undergrad; actively manages personal assets within a brokerage firm; reads books on economics and investing in the market, and is part owner of an investment group that owns real estate, stocks, bonds, and a variety of crypto currencies.
Alan grew up in southeastern Idaho where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University – Idaho, passed the fundamentals of engineering exam, and participated in intramural sports. Alan has completed his second year at Cleveland State University College of Law and is an editor for the Global Business Law Review.
In his spare time, Alan enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his wife, 2-year-old son, and 5-month-old daughter. Their family especially enjoys taking advantage of the outdoors, surrounding cities, and beautiful Iowa evenings.
