FAIRFIELD, IA – August 16, 2021 – Cambridge’s The Next Step® internship program is wrapping up another successful summer. The Next Step summer internship program, now in its 10th consecutive year, was designed to develop the next generation of talent in the financial services industry. Cambridge received hundreds of applications for its 2021 program and welcomed 29 students from a wide range of educational backgrounds and from colleges and universities around the country.
This summer’s interns were able to join fellow associates back at the Fairfield home office, after COVID-19 moved the 2020 internship program to a virtual setting. The Next Step program provides students an opportunity to join various departments across the firm in full-time, paid internship roles. During the 12-week program, interns learned about industry basics and trends, participated in professional development courses, shadowed Cambridge associates in other departments, and presented their final projects to colleagues. Supplementing their college studies with practical experience in the financial services industry, this year’s interns worked closely with a professional mentor, supervisor, and executive champion in their assigned department.
Several interns have returned for multiple summers while others have gone on to work in various financial services positions across the country. Many students who have participated in the program return to Cambridge as full-time associates. Cambridge is proud of The Next Step internship program’s ability to develop the next generation of talent in the financial services industry.
